I am so excited to update this post... again! TURTLE LOVES WAFFLES won 3rd place in Kailie Pew's 1st Annual Kid's Choice Kidlit Writing Contest! I am HONORED and over-the-moon that the kid-judges liked my story. After all, that's the whole point of this writing journey!
Kailie was kind enough to share some comments the kid judges left about TURTLE LOVES WAFFLES. Totally made my day!
"I chose Turtle Loves Waffles because I like waffles and I like how he likes waffles and then he starts his own waffles, but then runs out again."
"In turtles love waffles I liked that he really liked waffles and then he made a waffle store for only waffles and that sometimes he had to close the store and put a sign that says no waffles."
"Oh, automatically #1! It was made for me! I love waffles and turtles!"
I removed the sample from this post because Turtle stole my heart. With the help of my amazing CPs, this story has grown from a contest piece into a full-fledged PB. Maybe, just maybe, this one will be on bookshelves someday.
